Official Rules

 

“Discuss with your doctor how this important milestone can improve your health.  Then visit with your doctor after you’ve achieved your weight goal to learn about any health improvements.  Your doctor’s encouragement can be highly motivating and further reinforce your conviction to manage your weight.”

 

  1. Before You Start, Talk to Your Doctor. Before you get started with a new diet and exercise program, talk to your health professional about a plan that is safe for you. Your weight and your health are closely linked so be sure to talk to your doctor if you have any of the following conditions, or any other health concerns:Diabetes, Heart Disease, or cardiac problems, Orthopedic issues such as chronic back, neck or joint pain, Chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma or COPD. It is important to note that losing weight can help you prevent the above conditions.

  2. All contestants may have a pre-contest photo taken and have both total weight and body fat percentage measured at time of registration by authorized personnel only (information will be kept PRIVATE) .

  3. Each person will participate on a team of one (1) contestant or a team of four (4) for the duration of the challenge. If you are not already associated with a team, you can be assigned to a team. Teamwork encourages accountability and commitment.
  4. Each team of four (4) contestants will need a name and team captain. Please use creativity and discretion when considering your team's name.
  5. Teams will consist of four (4) individual members (same gender or co-ed) that will combine their total weight at the commencement of the challenge. Weekly weight loss will also be a collective effort resulting in the team's total weight loss percentage.
  6. Weigh ins are required weekly and to be administered by authorized personnel only. Individual weight will not be announced, only the net weight loss/gain in whole pounds may be displayed until the entire team weigh in is completed. Then the team's combined net weight loss total will be posted on the blog.
  7. Weigh ins should be conducted in similar attire each time to ensure accuracy.
  8. In the final 2 weeks there will be a cap on how much weight you can drop in a given week period to prevent usage of large dehydration techniques for the sole purpose of winning.
  9. Team with the highest percentage of fat to lean muscle from their initial weigh-in on final weigh in win % of total prize money collected to be split among all team members equally.
  10. indivusal male and female with the highest percentage of fat to lean muscle from their initial weigh-in on final weigh in win % of total prize money collected.
  11. Additional prizes may be awarded to the indivusual and team members based on various accomplishments trough-out challenge.
  12. San Juan Island Fitness Club, and all other sponsors, volunteers, representatives, agencies and employees:
    a. Are not responsible for any injury, illness or mental distraught that may arise from participation in the contest.
    b. Reserve the right to make rule/contest changes without notice at any time and reserve the right to change the aforementioned contest dates without notice.
  13. All participants [will be asked] to allow their name and picture to be used in promotional announcements, print, and internet based advertising for the sole use to promote program.
  14. Official team weights and percentage losses may appear in local media.
  15. All weekly results will be found on the "CWLC"  located at on the internet at http://communityweightloss.blogware.com/blog
  16. Participants may not miss more than six (6) weigh-ins to qualify for grand prize(s).
